Modification of the surface properties of high-dispersion AlB12 by a power beam of carbon ions................................................ 5

By means of scanning electron microscopy, X-ray microanalysis, and optical metallography methods,
changes in morphology, elemental composition, and microstructure of the surface layers of aluminum
dodecaboride AlB
12 exposed to high-power ion beam have been studied. It is shown that topography
of the ion-modified surface is specified by fluence and power density of carbon ion beam. As a result
of AlB
12 irradiation with pulsed high-power beam of carbon ions, formation of boron carbide on the
surface is occurred.

Effect of thermal stresses on fission gases migration in nuclear fuel.......................................................................................... 13

Effect of the level and distribution of internal thermal stresses on the process of migration of fission
gases produced under nuclear nitride and dioxide fuel burn-up has been investigated theoretically.
Due to a high thermal conductivity of nitride fuel, the level of thermal stresses in nitride fuel systems
is found to be considerably lower than that in dioxide ones.

Cermet plasma coatings deposited from mechanically alloyed W-TiAl-C-Co powder................................................................ 20

Cermet powder with triple (W0.6Ti0.2Al0.2)C0.7 carbide particles distributed uniformly in a Co matrix
has been synthesized by means of mechanical alloying of initials powders of W, Co, C, and TiAl
intermetallide. Wetting of carbide particles with molten matrix and its uniform distribution in the
melt during plasma spraying are took place owing to a certain chemical interaction of carbides with
matrix phase in the process of mechanical alloying. Microhardness of plasma sprayed cermet coatings
is 18 GPa under 20 g indentation load and 11 GPa under the load of 200 g. This difference is explained
by poor cohesion, the value of which can be enhanced by thermomechanical treatment of coating. Phase
composition of powders for spraying is found to be changed after mechanical alloying and following
vacuum annealing at 700-1150C while the annealing temperature for coating sprayed is 900C.
As-sprayed cermet coating has an amorphous-crystalline structure as well as high wear- and corrosion
resistance.

Development of the plasma technology of production of uranium oxides with required oxygen coefficient
for tableted nuclear fuel fabrication............................................................................................................................................. 30

Uranium has been reduced during plasma denitration process in the nuclear-secure plasma reactor
with the use of soluble reducing agents such as carbamide (NH
2)2CO, saccharose C12H22O11, and
acetic acid CH
3COOH. Disperse uranium oxide having the required oxygen coefficient 2.1-2.3
has been obtained during this operation. It was ascertained that an acetic acid is an optimal reducing
agent in this case. The optimal mass ratio value is
/U=0,5-0,6. Estimations were done accordingly
which the use of the plasma denitration method is most economic that as compared to the commonly
accepted technologies.

An experimental and design-theoretical investigation of the temperature distribution in steel item
under the treatment with a low-temperature plasma................................................................................................................... 38

Experimental method for determination of a spatial distribution of heat flux on the surface of a steel item
under the impact of a high temperature plasma jet has been proposed. Temperature distribution in a steel
item is determined by means of the experimental measurements of plasma jet induced heat flux and
numerical solution of a heat conduction equation. Computational results are in a good agreement with
the experimental data.

Disperse composition of titanium nitride nanopowders synthesized in thermal plasma............................................................. 44

The form of the size distribution functions for TiN nanopowders produced in plasma synthesis process
during the interaction of TiH
2 powder as well as TiCl4 and H2 vapor with nitrogen plasma are determined.
Formation of TiN nanoparticles from TiH
2 powder and TiCl4 vapor is found to be occurred due to vapor
crystal macromechanism without the stage of coagulatory growth of the particles. As a result of lognormal
distribution of the nanoparticles residence time in the growth zone, the TiN size distribution is lognormal, too.

An investigation of the mass-transfer processes between the particle decomposed in electric field

The model of decomposition of natural phosphate particle in electric field taking into account heat- and mass
exchange between the particle and surrounding liquid phase is proposed. Decomposition dynamics was
investigated varying the source intensity of heat, compressibility coefficient, reaction rate constant and content
of particles in electrolyte solution. The values of stresses and strain of the particle are estimated. It is proposed
that the cause of the facture of particles suspended in electrolyte is the change of the sign of tangential stresses
within some distance from the particle center depending on the model parameters.

Estimation of dynamic properties of reinforced plastics.............................................................................................................. 63

A method for investigation of impact toughness of anisotropic polymer composite materials (CM) by means
of shock tests of model CM specimens (microplastic) with the help of pendulum impact testing machine has
been developed. Ultimate tensile strength and impact toughness values were measured from the test results
for carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and organic fiber reinforced plastic (OFRP). It has been found
out that CFRP ultimate tensile strength and impact toughness values were twice less than that for OFRP.

Structure, properties, and thermal stability of rapidly solidified foils of Sn1xSbx alloys............................................................... 68

The structure, mechanical properties and thermal stability of rapidly solidified foils of Sn-(1-8) at.% Sb
alloys have been investigated. The foils have a microcrystalline structure, texture (100) or (100)+(101),
and consist of a supersaturated solid solution of tin as well as disperse particles of SnSb phase. Mechanical
properties of the alloys are determined by solid solution and dispersion mechanisms of strengthening.
Decomposition of supersaturated solid solution occurs at the temperatures above 50C.

Effect of fullerene on La and Li intercalation into MnO2 electrode.............................................................................................. 75

Effect of the cathode treatment of MnO2 electrode in 0.5 solution of lanthanum salicylate in dimethyl
formamide with addition of a fullerene soot on follow-up processes of intercalation-deintercalation of Li
has been investigated. Fullerene presence in solution is found to be led to significant changes in interface

boundaries and improvement of the electrode reversibility. Current density of cathode La penetration into
MnO
2 as well as level of following Li intercalation are decreased with increase of the content of fullerene
soot in lanthanum salicylate solution.

temperatures, melting points, and boiling points. Besides, the temperature dependencies of vapor pressure

investigated by TEM observation. Appearance of Mg
2Zn11 phase precipitates with 100-1000 nm in
size and volume density of (0.75-1.5)10
