By SEM, AFM, electric force microscopy, and X-ray diffraction methods, the structure, phase

composition, and local electrical properties of Snfullerite films implanted with B+ ions

(=80 keV, F=51017 cm2) have been investigated. Ion mixing and solidphase interaction

of Sn and fullerite layers are found to be occurred under ion implantation, and heterophase

structure with not uniform local electrical properties is formed at the same time.

Determination of laser heated graphite temperature by spectral pyrometry method.................................................................. 10

Time history of the temperature of laser heated graphite was determined by measuring the spectra

of the specimen thermal radiation. Possibility of laser initiation of graphite combustion in air is

investigated. It is ascertained that graphite ignition in air is impossible in the temperature range

of 1500-4000 K.

Synergetic effects in the process of polymer composite mass loss under the combined
action of electrons, protons and electromagnetic radiation......................................................................................................... 14

Effects of electron, proton, and electromagnetic irradiation on the mass loss of ECOM-1 polymer

composite have been studied. Irradiation was carried out in vacuum of 104 Pa with 40 keV electrons

and protons as well as electromagnetic radiation of 10 kW xenon lamp. It was shown that synergistic

effects of material mass loss are take place under combined electron, proton, and UV irradiation

which have clear irradiation time dependences. A model of polymer material mass loss in vacuum

under irradiation taking into account the diffusion fluxes of radiolysis products in the fields of its

concentration gradient and increase of gas permeability of irradiated layers of material.

Crater formation on the surface of titanium alloys under irradiation with intense pulsed electron beams................................. 22

Effect of the conditions of exposure with intense pulsed electron beams (IPEB) on the crater

formation on the surface of heatresistant titanium alloys has been investigated. The possible

mechanisms of various type craters formation under IPEB are analysed.

Barothermal impact of micro-discharges on the coatings formed in the process of micro-arc oxidation................................... 29

By the example of modifying of oxide coating preliminary plasma sprayed on Ti substrate, influence

of micro-arc oxidation on the structure and phase composition as well as microhardness of the coating

have been considered. As a result of micro-arc oxidation, the coating microhardness increase was

observed, as well as appearance of titanium oxide crystalline phases (rutile, anatase) in the coating

and omega-titanium phase in the surface layers of titanium substrate. The model is proposed for

micro-discharges development and barothermal effect on the coating formation in the process

of micro-arc oxidation.

Features of the structure as well as the process of decorative black protective coatings
formation on duralumin surface by plasma electrolytic oxidation method.................................................................................. 35

Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) in alkaline phosphate-silicate electrolyte with addition

of 8 g/l potassium hexacyanoferrate enables to produce a decorative black coating on the

surface of duralumin. The PEO process is necessary to continue even after the extinguishing

of intense plasma micro-discharges on the surface of working electrode since a silting of

primary voids by growing alumina is occurred on this stage of the process. There are a big

number of large-scale cavities (up to 150 μm in diameter) on the surface of the decorative

coating and a small cavities (up to 5 μm in diameter) inside of large ones. Decorative

properties of the coatings are ensured by homogeneous depth distribution of Fe throughout

the coating, and a black color is due to the presence of double oxide FeAl2O4.

Effect of electromechanical treatment on the structure and microhardness of plasma coating from Cr-Mn steel...................... 44

Effect of electromechanical treatment (EMT) at 25 and 500C on the structure and microhardness

of plasma austenite steel coatings has been investigated. EMT current was varied from 400 to 800 A,

treatment rate was 0,81-3,39 m/min, and number of passes from 1 to 4. The coating consolidation

after EMT was observed as well as its microhardness increasing from 1866 up to 4618 MPa under

EMT without specimen heating, and up to 5814 MPa under EMT with specimen heating up to 500C.

The process of anodic alumina formation in sodium hydroxide based electrolytes has been studied.

Comparative analysis of electrochemical oxidation of aluminum in alkaline and acidic electrolytes

is carried out. Correlation between the morphology of anodic alumina films and the conditions of

anodizing process has been ascertained.

The changes of photo- and mechanoluminescence of the composite material based on the photopolimerizing

phosphor resin and fine-dispersed phosphor powder SrAl2O4:(Eu2+,Dy3+) under temperature lowering

from room to liquid-nitrogen temperature have been investigated. It is shown that the phosphorescence

intensity of the specimen is decreased when the temperature reduction takes place, whereas the intensity

of mechanoluminescence does not depend on the temperature.

Mechanical properties of hardened epoxy under cyclic loading have been investigated. Peculiarities of

hysteresis effect in a resin at strain rate 3104 s1 is studied. Dependencies of hysteresis loss on applied

stress and cycle number were ascertained as well as stress dependence of effective elastic modulus of

resin under tension and unloading of specimen.

Effect of a cold rolling on the structure, physical and mechanical properties of isotropic and preliminary

oriented polystyrene films has been investigated. A positive action of the cold rolling is found to be

manifested itself in isotropic film only. For the best results, it is desirable to carry out the rolling process

in several stages.

Effect of parameters of electric discharge with liquid cathode on the properties of produced

Dependencies of the formation rate and size composition of the fine particles of ferromagnetic material,

formed during sputtering of steel electrode in electric discharge between solid and liquid electrodes, on

the discharge parameters (discharge current and density of current on electrode, distance between electrodes)

as well as on carbon content in sputtered material have been ascertained experimentally. Approximating

equations for the particles diameter and the dispersion process rate dependencies on the current strength and

currant density were determined for solid electrode made from tool carbon steel.

Production of superhard corundum under spark-plasma sintering of aluminum oxide nanopowders....................................... 89

In the process of optimization the conditions of spark-plasma sintering of aluminum oxide powders,

the repeated non-uniform distribution of microhardness over the surface of the sintered pellets has been

ascertained. Microhardness in the volume of the pellets was significantly higher (up to 35 GPa) than that

on its surface. SEM microstructure investigations on the cleaved surface of the compact show the presence

of zones with an unusual structure in the central regions of the sample. The structure of these zones is

composed of randomly oriented flat crystals with the longitudinal size up to 40 mm. Cavities between the

long crystals are filled with small grains of 0.3-0.8 mm in size. The results of microhardness measurements

are evidence of the zones with anomalous structure are possessed of superhigh microhardness values.

The methods and peculiarities of the synthesis of stable phases in ternary Li2OMnOMnO2 system

have been studied. Correlation between the phase composition and type of precursors depending on

Li/Mn molar ratio, temperature, and partial oxygen pressure during synthesis is ascertained.
